My little summer project this year.

There are also Cyrtostachys renda seeds, but I already put those soaking first thing when I got the package.

Feel free to share your experiences with these, if you have them.

Species I'm growing from seed: Verschaffeltia splendida, Chrysalidocarpus leptocheilos, Licuala grandis, Hyophorbe verschaffeltii, Johannesteijsmannia altifrons, Bentinckia condapanna, Livistona benthamii, Licuala mattanensis 'Mapu'.

Nice :)

Good luck on germination.

I think the Rhapis multifida seeds that I received were bad... I've soaked them in water for 4 days, and they are stinking and look like rotting on top... Maybe I shouldn't have soaked them this long, but I don't think they're supposed to start stinking even if...

I tried miraguamas #10 from RPS but they never grew:badday:.  Sommierias look cool. Good luck!

What do you soak seeds in and for how long?  I'm trying again after a zero percent success rate.

Damn! Sorry to hear that. When was this -- a recent order of yours?

I hope to fare better with these, but I know RPS is a hit and miss. They are not so bad as to write them off completely, though. I have got some pretty great viable seeds from them as well. So I put up with the occasional misses.

I just soak them in the tap water. Usually for 2-7 days.

Just a thought are you using a heat mat? I don’t have experience with those specific seeds, but all palm seeds I’ve successfully germinated needed supplemental heat.

Well, it's 6 months in a couple of weeks and not a single thing has come up. I know Nannorrhops ritchieana and Cyrtostachys renda can take their time, so I'm not too worried about those yet. But I guess there's not a lot of hope for Basselinia to show up anymore? Anywhere I've asked or researched I've been told that these should come up relatively fast.

Which ones do you guys think still have hope of germinating after 6 months? (Species I bought were Cyrtostachys renda, Basselinia tomentosa, Sommieria leucophylla, Latania verschaffeltii, Thrinax radiata, Coccothrinax miraguama ssp miraguama, Rhapis multifida, and Nannorrhops ritchieana).

Pisses me off, because RPS took a whole month before shipping my order back in spring. A whole month can be crucial in terms of viablility for some palm seeds.
