Scott, I heard it was at the Beverly Hilton.  Where exactly is that located (Streets)?  Maybe I'll try go see it myself next time I get to LA area.

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

 

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).  

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.  

Nice sunsets!

It's located @ Wilshire and Santa  Monica Blvd, Just about a mile or two down from where I work. Gotta check it out.

Pauleen Sullivan, longtime IPS member from Ventura, Calif., once told me they had some years ago talked to someone there about not removing the seeds that were forming on that Jubaeopsis caffra.  However, when they returned later had found that everything had been trimmed (removed) by their gardeners!  Apparently it gets trimmed on a regular basis.

Earlier today I set out to photograph the big Jubaeopsis caffra at the Beverly Hilton. Along the way however, I spotted a group of rogue palms hanging about in a park on Santa Monica Blvd, just opposite of the area in Beverly Hills, where Rodeo Rd., Beverly blvd., etc are located. So first here they are.....

thanks for the tour and i love beverly hills a lot and the phoenix in your stills all look great..and the die-hard movie

buliding is pretty tall.

Nice photos Scott. I noticed most of them are drought tolerant, which makes sense with public plantings. It was nice meeting you Saturday, and I know the drive was a long one. Hope you handling the heat in the valley okay.

I truly think it would be worth organizing an educational campaign - especially regarding drought tolerant palms.

Happ - I really like that last picture in post 71. It's very indicative of our area.

When I'm driving on the freeways and I see the rows of palms framed against the mountains, it's all I can do not to have a wreck while looking at them. I'd like to get a pic of some of these site, but I only see them from the freeways.

The ultimate picture would be rows of palms with a mission and the mountains in the background. Old California stuff. :)

have you covered the Beverly hills hotel area extensively ?

since in one of the top gear programs in bbc a rolls royce v8 was test driven through those roads with washy's all lined up..i have never seen any of our memebrs show that stretch of highway or road ?

Lovely stills and wish to see more clearer stills of the CIDP's of that location.and the brehas and the butia's are fentastic.

and can i know what variety of butia is seen in those stills since its very metallic blue in colour_very nice on the eyes.
