Hey Scott, yes, thanks for photographing those Jubaeopsis caffra at the Beverly Hilton (Post Numbers 56-60) and the other pics also.  

Save those pics - it would be nice to start a whole new thread just on Jubaeopsis caffra alone.  Have everybody show their photos and tell of their experiences in growing that beautiful palm.  Post pictures of it growing wherever they find it, in habitat and of course in gardens around the world.  Anyone wish to begin such a thread?

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

 

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).  

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.  

Nice sunsets!
