Arenga Tremula

I've been busy re-mulching a section of my garden and noticed my Arenga Tremula was looking quite good after our hot & very wet summer.   It's been in ground around 22 years but was set back quite badly around 13 years ago after a really nasty  frost.  It's certainly not as tough a palm as Arenga Engleri but can handle light frosts ok.  I think continual frosty weather will eventually kill it though.

Actually it's not a Rafia but a Dypsis Bojofo.  The blueish crownshaft belongs to a single trunk Dypsis Pembana.

Here you go mate, just for you.   Although I'm sure everyone likes a good Bojofo pic early in the morning.

Wow that is nicely grown. I have one in next to a salacca and am worried about how heavy the leaf is. We have a few at my job and they have one of the heaviest leaf

I'm sure there's a bad joke in there somewhere.  :D

Here's my Tremula (I think) on the right corner, and an Engleri on the left corner.  They were planted at the same time from 3g pots in August 2019.  The hypothesized Tremula took about 50% damage from 28F + frost and then 31F with heavy frost this winter.  The Engleri was untouched.  I say hypothesized Tremula because I bought both from PT member ChuckG, along with 4 or 5 other pots of Engleri of various sizes.  This one has paired leaflets towards the base of the fronds, which is something not normally seen on Engleri.  And it appears to be frost sensitive, which is an issue with Tremula anywhere in 9b or colder.
