Pygmy date palm drooping

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!!

It recently rained last night, I went to go check on my plants this morning and noticed that my pygmy date palm was drooping. I went back outside when the rain dried out and saw that my pygmy date palm wasn’t drooping anymore. Any ideas of why this is happening?? :)

(This may be a dumb question, but, I was curious.)

Just the water weighing down the fronds a little bit, never hurts them at all. Besides, who doesnt love a droopy and beautifully grown Pygmy Date palm anyways? What a beautiful palm you have there!

Thanks!! When it droops like that, it reminds me of some type of tree fern. :)

John, I have noticed that over the last.... more than 40 or 50 yrs, all of my plants can tell the difference between hose water and rain water.

Where rain water really wakes them up, Hose water just keeps them alive.

Cheers Steve

It is not dead, it is just senescence.

Agree, I believe rain water has more oxygen than hose water, that may be the reason why.
