How close to house can I plant Trachycarpus Fortunei?

I bought a couple 3gal windmills today, and I’m considering planting one of them in a spot that is pretty close to a brick wall.  How much space do they typically need?  Would 3 feet off the wall be enough?

See "Advice for purchasing new Trachycarpus fortunei" thread about 6 threads down (As of 5:15pm)  Note the picture of the Trachy that's closer than three feet.

I have a couple right up against the house. They’re leaning a bit as they grow but no issues. A neighbor had a huge one two stories high planted within inches of the foundation, again no issues.

I have several close to the house ( within a foot ).  2 have a severely curved trunk, but the others are straight.  Just give em a lean to clear the soffit and gutter.
