Trachycarpus germinating question

How much of a difference does it make if you peel all the fibre or coating off the trachycarpus seeds vs just putting them in dirt as they come off the tree,

I got 2000 seeds I want to try with

Hi Bill,

For me no difference. Trachies normally do have a good germination rate.  They don't need high temps.

I used to clean them off of that black outer coating.  I don't bother anymore, I don't see a difference.

With fresh seed like that, no difference. I would clean though if you plan on storing any at all.

Toss them in a mulch pile and cover them an inch or two. Water 2x per week. Wait 6 weeks. 90% will germinate.
