I don't know if this is that particular cross, but it is supposed to be some sort of hybrid livistona from the Bobick's in Orlando. That pic was taken about 1999-2000

Richtrav,

I've got the Livistona pictured in the upper left listed as L. decipiens X chinensis, along with Arenga engleri, Sabal "riverside" and Brahea armata.  I'll try to get a more isolated picture later if you desire,

Does the palm display any hybrid vigor?  And does it produce viable seed?

Posted

This hybrid does grow vigorously but does not produre seeds

This is an interesting topic - there is a massive 40 footer of this hybrid at a friend's place just south of me. I thought I had a picture, but I can't find it. It has the head of a chinensis, but the trunk is actually grey, and has the growth rate of decora.

Kingfish, let's see a picture of that thing.....I like the sound of this: "a chinensis look alike that is sterile."

That is good news for your "future weeds" topic!

Eric--

Is that a Melaleuca ericifolia next to the palm?

(Sorry OT...)

Yes, some species, but don't know which, might have been M. alternifolia or M. lineariifolia. Its at the FL Grande, across from the convention center. Both the tree and palm are now gone, the hotel was renovated and they were replaced with big royals.

If I recall correctly, these are chinensis x decora palms at Faith's. Christian - correct me if I am mistaken.
