Not food for your palms, but food from palms for me….  Eutrupe olecerea pops I guess.  I saw this in the checkout line at Wildfork Foods, so I got one…. Kind of gritty, tart, not too sweet (which I liked).  Not bad.  3DFC7F6F-E5A0-4245-AFDE-F7AD6D66E011.thumb.jpeg.94ebbd00eca14f04fa9f53b538e61693.jpeg

I sat in the car and opened it up.  Sadly, I bit off the top, gave it a firm squeeze and it shot dark purple syrup goo out of the bottom all over my crotch..   That was an unfortunate turn of events.  I guess I shouldn't have squeezed it so hard.  Thank god I was headed home.

Side note:  They are putting Thrinax radiata all over the place in parking lots down here, and Vetchias that are tall with white crown shafts in the medians.   They look pretty good.  341A50D4-B9C5-41F8-8F1B-46D931BE9919.thumb.jpeg.08106e0233cd8e0226dbc92af8428454.jpeg

Funny post with a cool picture. I think it’s great that people are realizing there are more than just the standard palms available when doing a landscaping project. Thrinax Radiata has really received a lot of attention lately and rightly so. It’s a great Florida palm and I sometimes see it in the big box stores mixed in with the ubiquitous Adonidias. As far as the açaí goes, it’s a treat that is perfect for smoothies.

Now you need to plant your own acai palms. They grow well here in South Florida (until we get a freeze).IMG_5104.thumb.JPG.79a17b78d01549f6964796653c6a8788.JPG
