I have 3 types of pachypodium lamerei.

First picture is a shrubby type 30" high maybe 10 caudex coming out of ground.

2nd picture pachypodium lamerei ramosum it is tree like, called a dwarf variety but is large and growing. This variety is my favorite, the blooms are large and very, very fragrant.

3rd picture is a standard pachypodium lamerei about 10 ft tall.

All of them bloom steady for 5 months or more.  All have fertile seeds pods that opened up.

My question is I started 30 seeds of the Ramosum variety and all have sprouted. I would like to have that certain variety, but with all varieties blooming will these seeds be true to parent or be hybrids?

I really like the intense fragrance as it is similar to gardenias.

Man, i gotta admit i'm a touch envious at those Pachys..  :greenthumb::greenthumb: Top notch..

As far as your question, would assume that if all were flowering at the same time, high %' age there will be some crosses..  To what degree?  can't say w/ 100% confidence.  Should get some winners regardless.. How are your Desert Rose looking atm?

Aside from hot, how's the weather looking down there? I see the rains may be kicking in a little further southeast, up in the mountains sometime this week (  current Forecast down in Alamos suggests daily storm chances after about Wednesday ).

82° low  88° high, mostly sunny, nice here. Most of our rain here comes July through October. Hope this is a rainy year.

Desert roses are happy. BTW the red and pink ones are from the same seed batch the pink one was in a pot longer why sizes are different.

I guess I will grow this batch up and pick the one with the best chance of being like parent. Wanted a fragrant one on other side of yard. Will put it next to a Madagascar jasmine and Arabian jasmine. Should be nice I hope.

Hoping for the same up here as well.. Some hints it could be better than last year -at least- in  both areas ..

Think that would look good ( certainly will be plenty of fragrance to enjoy ) Unless a different plant, didn't realize you could grow Stephanotis ( what most people know as Mad. Jasmine ) down there.. Forget it up here w/ this heat, lol.

That's what most of the cacti/ succulent gurus do.. grow out seed, then select the best plants. No doubt w/  the heat/humidity ..and nicer ( than here ) winters there, seedlings should grow pretty fast.

If you can find either, < or collect seeds >, ( both are native there around San Carlos / Guaymas ).. Nacapule Jasmine ( Vallesia baileyana / laciniata ), and Hintonia latiflora are also extremely fragrant bushes/ small trees you might research.

You have things growing up there that will not make it here with the summer heat and humidity also.

Surprisingly many cactus cannot survive here.

Is guess we should enjoy what we can where we are
