Picked up this one at HD in Pearl City.  One left, a little smaller.  Not sure where to place it yet.  They had it pretty much in full sun for at least the middle of the day.

As I went to post picture to my computer I realized I bought one from FB last year in 1 gal pot....Not gonna tell the wife that I spent $69.99 on one I already had.  LOL

She'd not be happy if you had bought it here in San Antonio.  A local nursery here was selling one slightly larger last year for $599.00!  It's no longer in their greenhouse area but not sure if it sold for that amount.

599$ are they out of there minds? I picked a ramsii up at hd for I think about the same 69$ but think it was worth it because of the years that went to grow the palm.. I hope that gives you another excuse to justify to sour wife. Lol

Good price Steve, that’s what mine cost and yours is a bit larger.

No rush to plant it out Steve, they can live in pots for what seems forever.

Totally off topic but Pal Meir....It's amazing how many ways the Germans can spell Meir, Myer, Mayr, Meyer, etc.   LOL  Mine endes w/Mayr from Munich where papa's family lived for the past 400 years.  Can't go back farther as the church burned down 400 years ago and all records lost.  LOL

I think they are/were out of their minds unless someone actually paid that price!  I told a friend that I could have spent less buying a plane ticket to Miami, rented a car for a day, and purchased the same palm!

Got it in the ground today.  Will be in partial sun forever.  It's about 3' tall now.

One day I'll try another Licuala. I love this species but it's still in the back of my mind that mine died real effing quick.

Licualas are a beautiful species!

I had no luck with L. grandis seeds but with L. naumannii and L. ramsayi.

Maybe I should place another seed order.

However, thanks for posting!

As far as I can remember a mix similar to something between these two:

When planted in the ground I dig a whole and add about 1/3 a 5 gal HD bucket of Black Cinder, same amount of some compost and native soil whatever that is.
