On a recent trip to Port Charlotte I spotted this Geiger tree (Cordia sebestena) at the Punta Gorda marina.  This cold sensitive flowering tree is naturized in the Florida Keys and has several color forms.

It had dropped some fruit so I collected a few so I could grow this lovely species.

These are ubiquitous in SE FL and beautiful shrub/tree. I believe they are not as sensitive to cold as reported. I believe Orlando heat island will easily support the Geiger. Good luck and keep us posted!

Thank you Bubba!  Not sure which color form this is but it was actually a tree I had in the back of my mind as far as one I wanted to grow at some point.
