My Cocos Nucifera has 3 new seed pods coming out for the first time.  This was planted in May 2016 as a sprouted coconut.   Thanks to @PalmatierMeg for this beauty.  Now we will see when it opens if it is a hybrid or a true Spicata.  Very nice color to the petioles and the seed pods are bright orange...will keep you posted.   The leaves are longer than my hybrid dwarf green Coconut so could be a hybrid anyway but still a beauty.

My dwarf red spicata mother palm had very long leaves on a fat, short trunk. At the time it fruited it was the only flowering coconut I had and the only fruiting coconut I knew of in the immediate neighborhood. Fruit were a vibrant reddish orange. I miss that palm.

Did you keep any of your sprouted ones to replace it?

I have dwarf red spicata twins from her first crop and a dwarf red spicata solitary from her second. The color must be somewhat variable as I have a third offspring from the first crop which has somewhat muted colors. I kept it rather than sell it. I couldn’t face composting it.

I remember the twins!!  Glad they are both still alive.
