Bought w/some funky name I can't even remember now.  Thanks to a few of you palm nuts it has been identified as Hyophorbe indica. Not sure of when it was planted out.  First photo is 2009 the bed is being ready-ed for a lavender planting.   Followed by the planting...every thing growing behind me is now long gone.  That huge euphorbia and it's irritating sap was hell to get rid of.  On  the right of the walk way you can see the young Rhapis excelsa I started to plant as a hedge.2009-07-15.thumb.JPG.08233c5111fd4ba24484211b198ac4fd.JPG

Next shot is about 1 1/2 years later.  I can't believe the growth.  Behind you can see me planting Rhapis excelsa as a hedge.  Biggest mistake I made since moving that heavy couch 55 years ago that ruined my back.  Here that Rhapis excelsa grows like a weed and spreads underground w/out care as to weather I want it or not.  I'm in the process of slowly digging it OUT!

Here is an update on the "wall" of the Rhapis I planted "by mistake".  LOL  I have to slowly dig them all out or they will take over the whole yard.

Those flowers smell lovely and it won't stop flowering from now on.

But they take years for the seed to be ripe (like Howea) so they are not a problem like some heavily seeding palms (like Queens) are.

If like mine it will speed up from now.

Looks nice and is holding more leaves than I can ever get mine to hold.  The tight ring spacing on mine near the top is probably due to a little more sun as they have gotten taller, but even when small 3-4 leaves was the norm for them.  One had the dark chocolate red crownshaft when younger and is still showing a hint of it.
