Great idea to include the visit to the nursery, a lot of history there.

This meeting might set the record for the northern most palm related event in Florida. The general area is five to six miles from the Georgia border.

That is an interesting point.  Unless there were palm events north of approximately 30.2977712 North Latitude, then it would hold the distinction of most northern palm event.  That would leave a few areas in the Panhandle like Tallahassee, Niceville, Destin, and Pensacola + points further north as well as a few areas north of Jacksonville like Yulee, Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island, and Hilliard as contenders for the crown.  If anyone has attended an event north of this in Florida, let us know.

It was a pleasure to attend.  Unfortunately, there was a wedding at the nursery so we didn't get to go there, @Palmarum.  Here are some photos from the event:

Nice coverage of the event. It looks like it included a large turnout... I see a couple familiar faces.

That is an inspiring collection of the most cold tolerant. I did not think the residence was so large and held so many specimens. It is a definitive northern reference to what can be grown in North Florida. Any surprises among the collection? I see some of the more cold-tolerant notables among the palms and cycads. I bet it was a chilly morning, too.

Was the wedding at the nursery last second? I get thoughts of a 'shotgun wedding'. A tour of that nursery would have been the icing on on the day, but oh well. An easy reason for the society to hold another event.

- The palm in the last photo is a Veitchia/Foxtail hybrid (Foxy Lady Palm) with nice variegation. Was this plant part of the auction or a donation to the collection? It is a surprise to see such a nice specimen. That potted Croton next to it on the left is an even bigger surprise. I did not think any Croton cultivars could grow that far north.

I didn't see anything that jumped out as "totally out of zone" when it comes to palms.  Actually, I kind of enjoyed the stuff there that won't grow this far south because it is too hot down here.  The morning we had the meeting was actually not very cool at all.  Now Sunday morning, it was in the low 50s at the hotel.  It was track suit for sure then.

Was the wedding at the nursery last second? I get thoughts of a 'shotgun wedding'. A tour of that nursery would have been the icing on on the day, but oh well. An easy reason for the society to hold another event.

Sounds like it, so we didn't get to do the museum, but such is life.  I had flashbacks to watching "Robin Hood Men in Tights" when Prince John says they'll "Have a wedding... or a hanging"

Was this plant part of the auction or a donation to the collection?

This was part of the collection.  I think Kyle got this when we had the joint meeting in Fall 2018 at Dr. Rossi's house.

That potted Croton next to it on the left is an even bigger surprise. I did not think any Croton cultivars could grow that far north.

That might be an interesting inquiry for our host.  Wonder if he protects it/them?

Overall, I spent most of my time admiring that Sabal palmetto x causiarum hybrid and his Jubutia.  Those were the two that I really enjoyed looking at as they are some of those thick-trunked "statement" palms that I like.

@kinzyjr thanks for posting all the pics!  It was certainly great talking in person with all and enjoyed meeting some new members as well.  Looking forward to the visit at Dr. Rossi's in December!
