Hey everyone!

attached is a picture of a date palm I’ve planted a few years ago now. It’s been growing great, minus this third part that just seemed to of poked through and is not growing too fast. You can see it in the front. In your experience, will this grow into another segment? Is there anything I can do to help it out? Thanks in advance!

Thats interesting....
Probably a seed that didnt germinate immediately, and just recently did so (my opinion, could be wrong). This will become another bigger palm in a few years. It seems to be growing nicely with whatever watering/fertilizing that you're doing, so you shouldnt really have to do anything to help it out. By the way, those are some very healthy palms you have there!

Looks to me like a pheonix roebellini (mini date palm) that has hybridized with a clumping version of another date palm.

It should grow into another trunk.

Those are pure Phoenix roebelenii (Pygmy Date Palms). The smallest one will grow to eventually look like the othersbut won’t catch up to them. Triples look nice anyway, especially when their leaf canopies are at different heights.
