Had Sylvester’s for a few months and it’s about time I fertilize them but how much fertilizer should I use? There’s about 8-9 feet of clear trunk.8050AA12-3E14-4992-9E82-ECCDAAACA748.thumb.jpeg.db03840a9cfa28804283bf50f2eceba9.jpeg

The general rule of thumb in FL is 1.5lb of 8-2-12 fertilizer for every 100sqft of canopy 4x per year.  So for a 12' diameter Sylvester, that's about 113 square feet.  Roughly 1.7lb of 8-2-12 fertilizer would be a reasonable amount, sprinkled evenly under the canopy.  You just don't want to put it all up next to the trunk, as it'll burn the roots.
