Palm Fertilizer preferences

Recently transplanted palms showing new growth but it seems to be very light/whitish and the butias new spear (one of) is a bit spindly. Was really light on the fertilizer at transplant. Used super thrive recommended dose and half the minimum dose of fox farm grow big 6-4-4. I think they’re just needing more nutrients just wondering what everyone likes and has had good results from. Organic good. Just had the fox farm on hand and the stuff works, just not sure about on palms. Read a NPK 3:1:3 ratio is good so something 6-2-6 or around that? They focused on rooting not foliage maybe? The little one is a T. Fortunei.  Thanks for any input.

If that Butia photo is recent, they throw yellow spears like that in winter around here. It should turn green on time.

For the little ones I personally use the liquid seaweed that you mix with water. I think it’s pretty mild.

Has anyone messed with this stuff, it seems to have really good reviews and I like the high potassium.

Some of us here use palm gain. I use it on my palms and they are happy, except jubaeas; I use fish fertilizer on them. P649681800709-10PALM-Front.jpg.6b7afc628329f5fb733de1410e8322f5.jpg

I've used this one before as well.  Its primarily used as a foliar spray, but also a soil drench.  No Potassium in it though. Prevents deficiency that may cause yellowing, browning, curling & permanent injury in palms

CONTAINS: 2.5% Manganese, 1.5% Magnesium, and 1.0% Iron.

Thanks everyone for the input, ill probably do PalmGain base, with some high potassium summer booster, and occasional foliar spray (as directed).  So many fertilizers get kinda overwhelmed trying to pick one, but seems like good results from PalmGain. Im also have a few spikes form PalmsNorthwest thats supposedly formulated specifically for PNW palms but I dont know how much theyve invested into that claim.  Ill post a pic of theyre label and ingredients when when I get off work.

I don't have a favorite really, but i bought a bunch of stuff in 2020 when i became palm obsessed. I use Carl Pool for my bigger palms 3x a year. I've got some Jobes organic palm food that I give my outdoor plants when they look like they need it-can't use it indoors because my dog eats it. :bummed:

I mix superthrive and Alaska fish fertilizer in the water every now and then, and I also have Jobes palm spikes that I've used in smaller palms. I've also used orchid mist on my L. Weddellanium seedlings.

My reply is 0% helpful lol

Superthrive is not a fertilizer, it's a pesticide with some vitamins added to it.  I tried it and got leaf deformities.  Avoid like the plague.

I like Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro for pots and smaller in ground plants. It's a complete fertilizer with some chelated micros. The Jack's palm food stuff looks legit as well.

For slow release granular, Dynamite/Nutricote is a game changer. Stuff in the ground also gets organics (cottonseed meal is the cheapest) and K-mag. I also dump tons of pelleted elemental sulfur and granulated humate to fight my alkaline soil and water.

A palm grower not far from me (Mississippi) uses Carl Pool. I make the assumption (perhaps erroneously) that good growers have tried a number of different fertilizers and settle on the one that works best for them and is the most cost-efficient. This grower's beautiful palms are evidence that he's doing something right.

Anyone seen this red/brown coloration creeping up petioles on a JxB, It didn’t seems to have it when it arrived but was a bit nutrient deficient had to cut off some ugly bottom fronds. It’s growing fast now. I see that coloration on the old bases of jubaea but thought new growth should stay pretty green? Sign of deficiency, possibly nitrogen, or potassium? Or maybe nothing…
