After a month (Dec) of either rain or wind I've finally gotten out my pack pack sprayer and sprayed 12 gallons of Round Up (really a generic called Ranger) yesterday and another 12 gallons today.  Might have covered 1 of the 2 acres.  Tomorrow I have to go down to the local farm supply store and get another 2 gallon bottle as well as about 100 lbs of palm fertilizer and another 100 lbs of fertilizer for the trees and bushes.  I should go around after lunch and take a few "weed" pictures so you can see what a month of rain will produce.

Ok so we had a VERY dry summer and the weeds didn't grow except where I watered the palms.  That was pretty easy to take care of.  Then in December we had like 8" and the weeds came all over the place.  So they've really only been growing for about a month during the rain and wind.  Here are a few shots.  You can see that within the spray zone the weeds are very few but out side.  Wow Lau lau!  Some about 2'tall.

Steve,

Any reason you don't use mulch? Prices are pretty good out your way, I get killed with delivery fees where I am

What’s your location?   Can’t see it on my phone.   You might already know this, but round up works best when it’s warm out.  +80.

also, once you have your weeds killed you need a preemergent for each season of weed.

West Oahu   Pre-emergent sounds good.

No good reason.  I can get a yard in the back of my F150 for about $40.  Only problem is getting it out to the plants as I can't drive anywhere neer 90% of the lot.

Can you use a wheelbarrow? Roundup is pretty toxic and I believe has been linked to cancer. Spraying 12 gallons is a sizable amount. And the weeds just come back.

Yea that's the way I move stuff around.  Been using Round Up for decades not worried anymore at my age.  LOL   I use about 6 oz in 4 gallons of water in my sprayer.

Ive had to mulch heavily here and its finally paying off after 3 years of doing it. Of course I have sand not volcanic clay.  On the downside I did kill a few plants by mulching too close and then this wet rainy season started...
