Collecting postage stamps is a better hobby for North Texas than growing palms! :badday:

Damn, it takes a huge amount of work and resources to keep those plants alive :floor:

I was really hoping we'd get a break after last winter. This is a hostile environment for palms

Just stick to the sabal genus.

Absolutely. And grow a Washingtonia if you must have something with speed but don't count on it sticking around long-term

I still say Texas has some of the most extreme weather in regards to temperature swings. Just zero protection from Canadian air masses.

Really nasty cold in those central regions.

50°F / 10°C here in this part of Canada.

My first hobby back in middle school/high school.  Couldn't find any in my collection with palms except one.  Stamps were only 8¢ when I started collecting!
