I sprouted several dozen seeds of Rhapis Multifida and potted 3 to 5 per small pot.

All of them look fine and are pushing up nice dark green leaves-- except for 1 as you can see in the picture.

I was wondering if this was good news or bad news.

Is this a sign of a sick plant or lack on nutrients?  if so what should I do?

But then again---Could the seedling be variegated?--wishful thinking

Gene, you often get a few runts, if it hasn't got a green stripe kiss it goodbye.

its sort of greening up at the base of the leaf - but yeah there is no distinctive stripe so far.

I noticed that this leaf is also a bit wider than the others.

Spray it with trace nutrients and see if it gets better! I keep a spray bottle of chelated palm nutritional on hand at all times and spritz whoever needs it. My soil is so poor...sometimes inbetween applications of fertilizer it seems they just run out of energy.
