Trying to grow a triple trunked robusta trip and wondering if anyone has any tips or advice. I’ve germinated 3 seeds and placed them close together in a pot, are they too close together?

I've seen a nursery in palm springs with a bunch of triples in boxes, so I think it's probably gonna be fine. Palms push eachother away gradually anyways, I think

  • 1 year later...

I have had some luck starting "groves" using filifera. I imagine robusta would be the same. My climate is too cold for robusta.

But I direct seed.

Basically start a grove in place and remove unwanted ones.

The "mass" helps protect the young palms, can pick out the weaklings.

Don't lose 2-3 years reacclimating and growing roots when planting from a pot.
