Palm looks fine to me.  I got 2 foxys and 1 large - FLOWERING - S. schizophylla from Shelby.  Great deal and things came all the way across the country well packed and in great shape.

You did not get a palm that was basically bare root and a palm you specifically said you did not want!!!

If you really, truly,do not want this palm as much as you say, PLEASE sell it to me! I would LOVE to add that palm to my collection. Any true foxy lady on the west coast is an extremely rare palm; variegated or not. The palm potted up looks fine, and I would be thrilled to add it to my collection.:shaka-2:

If cash won't work, maybe you would be interested in trading for similar value plants... How about 2 Dioon edule or 1 Encepholartos sclavoi cycad? All are in 5 gallon pots. Let's make a deal for this ugly palm that you say you really don't want.:greenthumb:

Wheelin n Dealin!

Personally, I'd love to have one of the variegated versions. I thought that was one of the main attractions to this hybrid.

I'm just not confident that I can keep it alive here at my place. I've managed to kill at least three regular foxtails. To see a really special palm like this die would have me pretty upset.

This is exactly the reason I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet. 1g palm would be the ideal size to try out and not feel bad if I killed it. Un-like Patric hybrids where they have a better shot at surviving in my climate.

They do love it here. My Butia x Lytocaryum Weddelanium apparently isn't ideal for a pot lol. It came in a box for a shock absorber a year ago and I put it in a 2g. I put it in a 5g 4 or 5 months ago and it's already almost rootbound.

@Ben in NorcalI have a hard time believing yours were packed great when mine and another person got one and ours were packed poorly Maybe you had 1st string employees and I had 3rd string!! @aztropici don’t think you can see where I said I hated this palm as Jeff would say this is the holy grail of palms I have wanted one every since I first saw one this is my 3rd one and I finally got the real thing!! It’s just when you say you don’t want one because I have been a gardener for 45 years and and in my opinion variegated plants and plants with dark leaves don’t do so good here then you open the box and there is a variegated one you are pretty much surprised! If one of my customers said they didn’t want a certain color flower and then I put that color in how do you think that would go over!!!

Don't know what to tell you - mine was packed on par with what I get from Jungle Music, for instance, including stiff bamboo to preclude any damage.  All 3 plants were perfect.  These growers only have so much control over what happens in transit.  Anyway, your palm looks pretty sweet and I'd be happy with it if I were you!

I'm weighing career options right now. It's possible I have a fire sale in the next couple months but it'd be a lot more ideal to buy a house - but call dibs if you want it lol.
