PSSC Garden tour Rapine & Willoughby 7/16/2022

Yesterday was the PSSC meeting with a tour of two gardens both located in the Point Loma area of San Diego, the Rapine Garden and Willoughby garden.  I stopped in shortly at both gardens, long enough to snap a few photos and walk through both.  I'm sure others took additional photos so feel free to add yours in this string of posts.   I also picked up a couple of cool t-shirts so I can rep the Southern California Palm Society while out and about in my neighborhood.

Without further commentary I'll start things off with some plants that jumped out at me.

@Tracy I posted my videos and pics on the “Affiliate News and Meetings forums” pages last night. Sorry I missed you by the way.

Thank you both for the photos/videos!!! I put my comments/questions in the "Affiliate News" thread above... though I agree everyone needs to see this amazing garden!

So much I could comment on, but this photo was the most eye opening to me. Looking on the numbering guide (kindly included in one of Dale's videos), I see that this is a Dypsis Black Stem (which I own). I was surprised by the red/pink coloring in Tracy's photo, so looked it up and now see that this is indeed a possible coloring for the top part. Here's a photo (taken from hawaiianplants.com) that shows this coloring clearly. Looks like some white coloring will be showing on this plant next... then eventually the black stem. Neat.

Thanks again to both of you for the photos/videos - I learn something at each of these, though I haven't yet been able to attend in person.
