Different fertility of two Chamaedorea spp

Recommended Posts

I have two groups of solitary Chamaedorea plants consisting of both male and female specimens of the spp glaucifolia and metallica respectively. While the blooming of the female and male plants in each group overlaps,  the glaucifolia sets fruits prolificly, while the metallica only sparingly if at all. Could the reason be that these spp have different kinds of pollen (powdery vs sticky), whereby latter kind requires a specilized pollinator?
