@Allen how wide is your Sabal Lousiana (including fronds)? I'm trying to figure out how far apart to plant it from a couple Sabal Palmettos.

I think because the fronds are collapsing and old fronds cut then currently mine would be approx 8' wide but new fronds are 6'+ so if they were to lay out side to side it would be 12'

I just got a pic this morning.  Planted as a 3-gal in 2020 (thanks @jimmyt) and flowered for the first time in February.  Right now it's got 2 new inflorescences growing in addition to the many fruits.  It's in mostly full sun so fronds seem shorter than others I've seen.  @OC2Texaspalmlvr your inflorescence is crazy long!  :)

The speed of growth tells me it has to be S.Louisiana. Just haven't heard of the inflorense being this long.

Look at this thing , my guess 8' or so. Anyone seen there Louisiana send out a spathe this tall ? I mean it's almost double the height of its tallest frond.

Wondering, at what point do these "Louisiana" start to pick up speed? I'd wager that planting out early makes a difference. With other palms and plants for that matter, unrestricted root run aids in overall health/growth.

Just a week or so after my pic from last month I had an inflorescence pop up about 4' long but a gust of wind broke it in half.  Still more flowers on 'normal' length spathes in addition to the many fruits.  Nothing close to the length of yours though!  :)

Here is our largest Sabal Louisiana…… just a beast.  Love this thing and finally seeding which means I will have seedlings to offer of it next year.  Been a tank for us.IMG_1929.thumb.jpeg.e389896c5cd98c48017f52afd979c812.jpegIMG_1928.thumb.jpeg.f20de771ac6e4b9bc000c4a2113bac93.jpegIMG_1926.thumb.jpeg.078de0404b6485cd24ce0f9afdfe681c.jpegIMG_1925.thumb.jpeg.88ecffa09761c1a192b83c46f0d00e02.jpegIMG_1924.thumb.jpeg.e9efd19a443f5faa843372943b9051c6.jpegIMG_1923.thumb.jpeg.90ce35abadbc57259cfd40e933795a45.jpeg

Thank you sir!  I do really like this palm.  To see it be as small as it was when planted in March 2021 to now…. Just three years this thing is now a showcase specimen!

I got a Sabal Louisiana from Jungle Music in a small band pot size in June of 2023. I immediately transplanted it into a 7 gallon pot (picture attached) which I kept outdoors until around November, which I then brought inside and put under a grow light for the winter. I brought it back outside in April and finally planted it in the middle of June. You can see from the pictures how many roots it developed from a single year. It's already put on growth since being put in the ground.

From my observation on this palm and a Sabal Palmetto that I did something similar, I believe putting Sabal palms in way larger pots than they need and growing them indoors during the winter really helps put on growth. The downside is that the fronds the palms grow indoors are flimsy and bend over quite easy. My guess is from the lack of wind indoors, but the new fronds grown outside come out as normal.

Funny thing, my attempts to germinate seeds from mine have not resulted in anything but I have several volunteer seedlings I have dug out and potted up with no effort on my part!
