Pritchardia hillebrandii

I acquired this plant as Pritchardia hillebrandii and planted it sometime before the first photo in June 2009.  It's been producing fruit for at least 4 years now but I've never tried harvesting any to attempt to grow.  I was noticing the fruit is a little more round than what was described on Palmpedia and shown in some of the fruit photos there.  I am curious what some of my friends in Hawaii think based on their experiences with this species.  Does the fruit look like what is seen there or atypical?

Based on somewhat limited experience, I don't think that some difference in fruit shape from one tree to another, or even from the same tree, is unusual.

Thanks for the feedback Mike!  I have so many Pritchardia that I have acquired as something different than what they turned out to be that I'm a bit reluctant to believe any are what they were purported to be.

Looks great Tracy.. These sure seem to take their time in maturing. None of mine have flowered yet, nor has my neighbors, which has 15 feet of trunk. Yours is obviously happy!

I have a P. hillebrandii, purchased from Jungle Music, which has opened four fronds in 15 months, even up here, in chilly Fogland.  :greenthumb:
