Foxtail palm leaves going yellow and brown

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am in QLD Australia

My foxtail palm was planted last summer and was going well until winter. The leaves have started to yellow and now go brown.

Another palm(not pictured) went completely brown except for one frond. It gets less sun then the one pictured. Just wondering what I can do? Would it be lack of sun? Too much water?

Thanks

8C = 46F should be totally fine for a Foxtail.  Typically they show some damage around 0C and severe damage below 0C or with frost.  3-5C with frost could possibly do that.  Several of mine at a similar size died from -2c to -4C with frost.  My guess is a fungal infection of some sort.  I have a Caryota Mitis and a Caryota Gigas/Obtusa with very similar issues.  I've treated with extra fertilizer and Banrot, they are still growing but not too happy right now.
