Chrysalidocarpus survey in Northern California Bay Area

If anyone is growing Chrysalidocarpus in the Bay Area, what species do you have, what area are you in, and how is it doing?

I’m growing Chrysalidocarpus baronii in San Francisco with great success! Mine is potted and has grown quickly in three years (first photo July 2019 and second Aug 2022). It handles deep shade/dappled sun most of the year and direct sunlight for a month or so in mid-summer. It seems to love the constantly cool weather and fog I get, growing year-round. This is a yellow crown shaft variety I purchased from Flora Grubb. 
 

I just purchased a very small Chrysalidocarpus ambositrae that I’m going to try next.

Ambositrae is a solid grower, even for me, deep in the chilly fog belt.

My brother is growing a Chrysalidocarpus Decaryi with great success. Planted out a couple years ago from a small 3G. His is West facing unprotected 24/7. He lives on the island of Alameda. 
 

As reference, I got one and planted out at the exact same time. Mine is North facing and protected by a wall so it’s virtually protected in the winter.  Dictyosperma Album photobombing to the right. I live in Huntington Beach,CA. 

This experiment was done on purpose. It has been and will continue to be very interesting to watch the difference between the two regions. Both trees seem happy.

Might have to double check if these are Chrysalidocarpus or not, but all of these photos are taken in Northern California, including Jim in Los Altos's yard. C. ambositrae, decaryi, lutescens (don't know if still alive), baronii, and decipiens. I'd encourage experimenting with new species!

I reccognize this C. boronii from the Oakland Palmetum.  Planted a little close to the path, but otherwise doing very good.

Wow, this is the first time I've heard of this palm. Very pretty, looks like a Dypsis.

Nearly all Dypsis species are Chrysalidocarpus now.

I am growing Chrysalidocarpus lutescens, ambositraea, baronii (black stem, black petiole & standard), sp. lafazamanga, decaryi, decipiens, pembanum & prestoniana in Fresno, CA z9b.

For my area, C. ambositrae is by far the most robust. They look great, grow fast and handle the winters w/o issues.

Chrysalidocarpus baronii spotted in the West Portal neighborhood of San Francisco, not far from @Darold Petty's palm paradise. (west side of 14th Ave between Taraval and Ulloa, for those moved to seek.)

That's a really nice use of this palm.

Chrysalidocarpus onilahensis high on the west slope of Twin Peaks, throwing a new leaf a few weeks ago. It was slow to establish but now has about seven stems actively growing with quite a few new leaves this year. It looks a little ragged in the pic, I’ve pruned off a couple of leaves and it looks much better. PS we are right up the hill from West Portal and Jason’s pic
