red ruffles caladium

I bought some red ruffled caladiums from Lowes yesterday off the clearance rack and, slowly trying to diagnose and figure out the best solution for them, I washed all the old soil off the roots and looked at the bulb. It seemed a little squishy, and I was able to rub my finger over it and it tore open, exposing a more solid thing. I don't know if that's normal or not, but I dunked them into a hydrogen bath to help disinfect them. Is that the right call? Or are they toast? They don't look terrible, and they seem to still be growing.

I just want to mention that those pictures of the bulbs are different bulbs, not the same one.

I'm gonna try and just pot it up and see what happens, hopefully it will like the conditions in the end and recover. I'm gonna try a chunkish mix but enough to still remain moist but not too moist

all the leaves look like they are dying, I might have to cut them all off and maybe the blubs will send new shoots up 😬
