Trachycarpus Latisectus

Yesterday I got this Latisectus x Waggie Hybrid. A friend got a few of these from Jeff St Gelais. My friend has a older one and it looked very nice.  Anyway I have never had a Latisectus nor a hybrid until yesterday. I've read not as cold hardy. Was wondering about growth rate, size etc. I'm sure as a hybrid with a male Waggie it will have a different characteristics.  Since im in 7a it will become a house plant for a months out of the year. Thanks for any info.

Just watched an old YouTube video on cold-hardy palms; it featured Trachycarpus. These are considered 8b plants. I find Trachies prefer clay soils over sand or humus. It can probably stay outside every day but come in overnight during Jan-Feb.

That is a really cool hybrid.  My palm book says "latisectus" is a rare and endangered palm and it is only tolerant of brief dips below freezing.  A more tropical Trachy.  Will be interesting to see what form it takes.
