Sabal mexicana, cigars and beer

My palm watching screened deck is on the Makai (toward the ocean) side of the house.  During late summer no matter how strong the trade winds (NE) blow that deck gets temps over 95 and it's impossible to sit there in the afternoon w/my daily cigar and cold beer.  So I found a spot under my 3 Sabal mexicana's.  First I had to trim the dead fronds that really don't like to "let go" of the trunk.  They have been in the ground about 22 years.

I grabbed some 2 x  4's and built a chair to sit on.

Looking up the view is nice

But looking back toward the house some work was needed.

One truck load of fronds and branches and 6  25 gallon rubbish bags later big improvement, but I still have to get rid of that pile of old irrigation hose.
