Ganoderma identification - I found a single conk

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I found a single, small conk on the base of my healthy-looking phoenix sylvestris. Does this mean 100% ganoderma? I've removed it and anything it was attached to.

We've had so much rain lately - hoping it's just a freak thing.

Doesn't really look like Ganoderma zonatum in your pic. A Ganoderma zonatum conk usually starts as a small bright white almost round knob. As it develops it is usually horizontal and shelf like with the rings appearing as each weather event that promotes conk growth comes along.
