These palms went into the ground as 4” seedlings a few years apart. They were giveaways at garden tours held at the Charmin Akina garden a few miles north of Hilo. Generous gifts. 

I just noticed the first inflorescence on the older palm, looks a bit knarley, but does have a few seeds. 

Incidentally, there is hardly any soil in this part of the garden, so the roots must have found fractures in the blue rock. 

Just thought I’d post a few photos.

That's awesome.  Mine are growing slowly, and probably 1/2 to 2/3 that size.  Hopefully in another 3-5 years I'll be right there.
