These are from two weeks ago, on the east side of Taveuni, on the walk up to the Bouma waterfalls.  I couldn't seem to find anyone on the island who was even aware there were palms on the island besides for coconuts, so sadly I couldn't find any local help.

#1 - this one had fat leaflets, kind of like Chambeyronia, and very deep green leaves.

#2 Upright leaves, lighter green, perhaps Alsmithia longipes or Clinostigma exorrhizum?

#3 (two photos of the same palm).  This seems different from #2, but I suppose they could be the same species.

Hi Justin,

Looks most like Hetrospathe longipes, previously Alsmithia.

While in Fiji you should visit Flora Tropica Gardens near Savusavu on Vanua Levu as it has the best palm collection in the south pacific islands.

Enjoy,

Jim

Thanks Jim!  I wish I was still in Fiji, but I'm back in Hawaii for the biennial.  I'll have to see if I can get a hold of one of those Heterospathes; too bad I didn't see one with the red leaves.
