Any idea what this would be?  Licuala Grandis?  This is at a resort in Jamaica.

I think this is licuala peltata var. sumawongi. I'm happy to be wrong if it provides more information on how to tell these two apart. I noticed that sumawongi pics more often have a prominent midsection that sticks our more whereas that apical section is a perfectly accurate edge in grandis.

An old, old L. grandis.

Seems to be doing fine with a trunk lying prone as it is. Perhaps the wind from a storm knocked it over but did not break it. I bet it was a gentle decline versus a full smack to the ground. Too bad it didn't have any seed, offspring from such an unique individual would be cool to have.

In looking these up, the size of the fronds for the L. Peltata v. Sumawongi appear to be much larger.  While the pictures don't show scale well, they are not huge, so the L. Grandis seems perhaps a more likely fit.  Thank you for your input!
