Just posting a beauty shot of this 15gal I got at a local nursery. Quite lovely, never seen these before.

Looking for the right planting spot - Zone 10a San Diego. Instincts tell me partial shade/morning sun.

I would agree with your instincts. After planting cover the ground with some bagged manure, mushroom compost or other soil enriching amendment then mulch with natural groundcover and give what water you can.

It is indeed. I was told it will grow up to seven feet and eventually bananas, though have no idea how edible. I'll update this post in a year or two and let you know. :D
