Palms On-Screen

Some scenes featuring palms in seasons 1 (on Maui) and 2 (on Sicily) of the TV series "The White Lotus" were cringe-worthy, at least to me. The Roystonea poolside in Hawai'i looked poorly grown and the Syagrus (?) in Italy on the dock looked dead. You'd think with their production budgets it wouldn't have been a problem for the producers to install some healthier looking palms! I guess they assumed most viewers wouldn't notice (or care). 🤔 Despite this gripe, I love both seasons of the series!

Great show though.  Loved season 1.   HBO consistently comes up with some good characters across various series.

I guess if I ever get some time away from the hotel I manage, I should check this out.

Hmmm. Are those R. regias though? They look to me like dunlapianas. I do have a hard time telling my roystoneas, so I would like to know...or are they oleracea maybe?

If you really, really must know which species of Roystonea those are, you can always contact the hotel on Wailea, Maui, where Season 1 of The White Lotus was filmed, and ask their gardeners/landscapers: https://www.fourseasons.com/maui/contact-us.html 😉🌴
