I have a croton plant in a pot outdoors that suddenly looked sick a two weeks ago.

Looking closely I saw what appears to be white mealy bugs.

I rinsed them off, actually removed all the soil in the pot down to bare roots, some of the roots have rotted.  So I rinsed the roots as best I can and put it in a pot with new potting soil.

I have been monitoring it daily but it seems to be on a steady decline.  This is two weeks after the repotting.

Is there any hope?

Anything else I can do to revive it?

Mealy bugs come up often here, along with some sort of white mites.  I usually treat the surface with insecticidal soap a couple times and treat systemically with bioadvanced systemic treatment and that does it.

I'm a croton mass murderer. Literally killed every one I've bought.

Yes, but after killing, did you also eat them? Any respectable mass murderer worth his salt would at least consider it...

Solid zone 9, I can expect at least one night in the mid to low twenties every year.

Hot, dry summers. Cold, wet winters.

I thought a serial murderer eats but a mass murderer doesn't?

JohnAndSanco mY very well be both at this point lol. But yes, I suppose you do have a point.

It's OK, though. I treat my palms like John treats his Crotons ;)

In the end, just a joke.
