I can't remember his screen name, but there is a poster on the forum here from Boise. Wish i could remember what he was growing, even if he is located in a warmer part of town.

Top images are from a landscape business in Garden City.  No protection. The others are from my yard. No protection, except hay. Edwards Greenhouse had some nice sabal minors and needles but mowed half of them down.  I have a sabal in full sun and full shade. Full sun would look better if it wasn't for a new puppers.  I had a needle in full sun and it got hammered last year and I just moved to shade.  I am lazy in protecting palms and gave up on Trachys.

I believe there is one very small town called Riggins that is north of Boise that is in zone 8a. It is in a valley right between to big mountain ranges with a river running through it (a perfect microclimate). Like I said, it is very small so I don't know if you'd have any luck finding palms there. Also, one fun fact about the climate there, it is technically in a humid subtropical climate which is very rare for that area.image.thumb.png.2cd0a085ff60d733184a21fa2c8ff711.png
