What is more cold hardy, Attalea Guacuyule of Butyracea?

Which can take more cold?

I'd never heard of Guacuyule before, but I had some guacamole last night!  :P  I have some experience with smaller Attalea, here's my ranking in terms of hardiness/recovery:

  • Cohune - the weakest but unfortunately the most common for sale.  These defoliate around 28F/-2C or slightly below.  Recovery is slow due to the low growth speed.  I had one die from bud rot after ~26F with frost, two others survived.  These were all 3-8' fronds.
  • Phalerata & Butyracea - minor damage on large seedlings that are not yet pinnate, with temperatures about 24-26F with frost.  These aren't old enough to know how hardy they are, but they are tougher as small seedlings than Cohune.
  • Brejinhoensis - 25% burn with 24.4F + frost in the backyard.  This pinnate 5g with 3' fronds was somewhat protected from frost by an overhanging Arenga frond.  In the front yard I had a large seedling with ~1 foot fronds that was 75% burned at 27F with frost.  It recovered pretty quickly and looked great by April.  This recovered a *lot* faster than Cohune.

I've read that Speciosa is the hardiest of the Attaleas, but I don't have one yet.  I was really impressed by the toughness of the Phalerata seedling.  I honestly expected it to be dead after that freeze + frost.  It was in a more exposed and colder spot in the backyard than the Butyracea seedling, but took a little bit more damage too.  So at the moment I'd rate them about the same.

Ah, I didn't know that!  So I guess my current experience is that Butyracea is noticeably more cold and frost-resistant.  It'll take several years before my small Butyracea are in the 3-6' frond size.  My backyard (orange/yellow lines) in-ground Butyracea has solid leaves about 18" long and was completely undamaged during the Christmas cold front.  My two surviving Cohune (2-3' fronds) in the front yard (gree/burgundy lines about 1-2F warmer) were 75% burned.  Here's the temp profile:
