Here’s Tahina Spectabilis growing in Harlingen, TX z9b this week.  It took low temps of 27*F & 31*F last week.

Hard to imagine Tahina as a cold hardy palm but there you go!  :) Can't wait to see it in a few years.  I'm sure your overhead canopy helped but I wonder how much more it can take?

Looks like nothing happened.  That's good news for those who have the room for one of these.

That's good news. My Tahina is trying to come back from being crushed in Hurricane Ian. Glad to know I don't have to sweat winter.

It looks like you took little to no damage down there ? How did your coconuts fair?

I’m not sure what it can take.  Hopefully  it’s not tested soon 😬. I know of a few in Brownsville that survived 23* in Feb of ‘21.

The coconuts were mostly defoliated and wrapped and are fine.  I believe they would have been OK unprotected, but with beaten up foliage.  This recent freeze had minimal effects, especially for plants that had wind shelter in the RGV.

Is anyone aware of a source of seedlings or even seeds for those of us who would like to trial them?
