I have a 5 year old foxtail palm that's in overall great health except for 8 inch verticle cracks all the way around the base.  Watering is once a week from the irrigation system. Water does not spray directly on the palm.  I use palm tree fertilizer twice a year. Rest of the tree is healthy including the crown and it produces new fronds every month.  Any idea as to the cause of the cracks and should I be concerned. Don't want to lose this beautiful foxtail.  Thank you.

So I recently have same problem, sprayed cracks with treekote…. Will this cause further damage, or just fade away in time? It’s a good size healthy foxtail.
