Hello everyone!  Trying to figure out what might be causing this hole in the trunk of my bottle palm.  I've had it for about a year now.   The fronds have some slight yellowing at the tips on the older fronds and there is a crease starting to show at the top of the rounded base (where it starts to turn green) but other than that seems to be relatively healthy.  I just removed the oldest frond which has died and discovered this hole underneath.  I inspected that frond and the hole had not gone through however i could see some damage on the inside where it would have been sitting on the hole.  Hope that makes sense.  Any ideas?

Maybe just a bruise from when the last petiole base was removed.

It's kind of hard to see in these where it is but it's pretty high up from that area.  Also, it's kind of hard to see in the pic as well, this hole is pretty deep.  I can't tell if it's just about the depth of the next frond or if it goes deeper than that, into the next layer as well.

I've attached a couple other pics to maybe get a better idea.

The next pic shows (kind of) how deep it is.  The pen is a standard ball point, the tip is touching bottom layer.

I would not worry about it.

I am more worried about a deep hole in the base of the palm (at that stage) than a shallow one in the crownshaft.

It'll be fine.

Ok, thank you!  I did inspect the base and didn't see anything to note, no holes, decaying or growths.
