Inwards to our carport.

The green Malayan dwarf is leaning inwards.  Preferable than if it leaned towards our neighbors.

19c btw

Looking good. Love how these are so "smart" and try to get themselves to a better position. I suppose if your fence was rotten and you needed the reinforcement, the lean in that case would be a huge disappointment...

Solid zone 9, I can expect at least one night in the mid to low twenties every year.

Hot, dry summers. Cold, wet winters.

A golden malayan I used to have was starting to go fully pinnate and was leaning like that towards the street. It would have looked beautiful and much bigger than it was if the 2021 freeze didn't take it.

Can you please post an update on your coconuts? Plus, does it get windy (not severe winds but cold air breeze during winter or is the air still where you planted them?

My update is grim.

My oldest coconut : Golden Malayan dwarf ( my baby) died due to mice/rats.

The green Malayan dwarf died due to the 7 month winter we had.

I have only two left:

The golden tall which germinated in the outhouse is barely coming  out of the winter damage.  I'll send pics later.

And I have a golden tall baby (probably 2 years old) which survived this past winter thanks to the brood lamp.

I am beside myself. Those rats came from the neighbors.  I don't have words to describe how I feel.

But two left.

Unfortunate, but keep your chin up.

Any updates? Have you grown any new coconuts?

Alex I am sorry to hear what happened with your coconuts:( I just saw the post now, but don't give up, I am pretty sure you can succeed!

What I have been learning all over these years is that soil, especially something like sand makes it a lot better for them to thrive in cold climates.
