The best place is to keep an eye out on this sites "palm exchange".  You can find fresh seeds here. Be patient and lots of seeds will eventually show up.

Would be helpful if you would list the specific species you are interested in growing... Hundreds of palm species in existence, and there are many people here on the forum with mature, seeding trees, that would be happy to help you out,if they only knew what you were looking for. Here are some of my trees in seed.

Cold hardy? Tropical? Caribbean? Desert? South American? Pacific? Give us a clue.:greenthumb:

😃 If you are checking your local trees, the key for 100% pure filifera is a GREEN petiole base. NO red should be visible at all.:greenthumb:

Do you have any Burretiokentia koghiensis seeds?

Posted

I don't have that particular species, but another palmtalker did have them available this past fall. Best bet would be to reach out to him and see if he will have any more available this year.

我没有那种特别的品种,但是另一个会说话的人在去年秋天确实有这种品种。最好的办法是联系他,看看他今年是否会有更多的球员。

Do you have any Kentiopsis oliviformis seeds? And how to pay here and can I tell you my address in the “message”?

Posted

I do not have any seeds of the more tropical species you are seeking. I live in a very hot desert climate. Since you also appear to be located outside of the USA, shipping seeds to another country is not always easy. Your only option may be to deal with a company like RPS that can issue phytosanitary certificates that must accompany plant and seed shipments between countries. :shaka-2:

Scott, you've grown some of these Chamaerops humilis 'argentea' (used to be cerifera) from seed, right?  How long before they started to show any blue color?  My community pot of some of your seeds just started popping last week.  Not blue right away like Brahea armata.  They like being outside much better than in my garage apparently...

@aztropic  interested in selling me some pure Filifera seed?  Always on the hunt for more and don’t have any from a truly verified source.

@EJ NJ need regular chamaerops humilis?  I have probably 800+ cleaned seed from a nice 4 trunker I have from last year.  Never listed the, here because I figured they were too common for interest.  Should have some cerifera seed later this year (mine is flowering already), all mine from last year are gone however.

Yes, I have grown them from seed off that very tree. They pretty much don't start showing the blue until they are at least 3 gallon size. Here's a pic of 1 from my own seeds just starting to show some blue. Notice the much finer segments of the fronds compared to the standard green species.

Thanks - I guess I'll have to wait.  Not a big surprise though as patience is always required with palm seeds!

Depends a lot in which country this is located: Location30.59°N.  Most of my rare palms came from seeds of RPS.  Take the seeds that have the tag " New" for better chances.

Carambeí, 2nd tableland of the State Paraná , south Brazil.

Alt:1030m. Native palms: Queen, B. eriospatha, B. microspadix, Allagoptera leucocalyx , A.campestris, Geonoma schottiana, Trithrinax acanthocoma. Subtr. climate, some frosty nights. No dry season. August: driest month. Rain:1700mm

I assume he's in China as this latitude corresponds with central China & he's translating replies into Chinese. RPS certainly successfully sends seeds to China, although I've no idea what the phyto, etc. requirements are or how sedulously they are enforced.
I absolutely agree about going for newly added seeds on RPS.
