Spring planting (new palms)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! Keep checking everyones posts out but not making many myself so I thought I would post an update of a few new palms I have planted this spring! My new methods hopefully is plant less but take more care as the sun is very strong here in summer a lot of new palms get burnt the first year and then winter wipes them out! Its very simple what I am doing just takes a little extra time using shade cloth for sensitive palms and hard to come by palms I really don't want to have to replace not that we ever want that! 🤣

Here is my first foxy lady planted near the pool area eventually will be in full sun but for now has its own shade box!

Here is my beautiful Dypsis cross which after help identifying we believe its Madagascarensis x Leptochelios and again with some protection as this palm had a very small root ball.

I had quite a few Carpoxylon Macrospermum I grew from seed and these 2 were not liking the heat in the greenhouse so I hope they recover planted in the ground again with some shade added for now:

3 Chambeyronia oliviformis planted together as I love palm trios 😁

Trying Adonidia Merillii in a protected spot that was grown from seed

I have another Pionanga Khuli that has been doing well and survived the worst winter we have had for a while so I decided to add another in a protected spot:

Now this is pretty interesting if it is what Christian F said who I know is an expert on palms, I was hoping it was chamberonia Houailou but he identified it as neovietchia Storckii which I don't think has any chance of surviving here but its planted now and thats where its staying 😅

Thank you! Will do! Need a few years for everything to settle in and create some more protected and shaded areas but so far so good 🤞🏻
