European Fan Palm care

Hello guys,

Here's the info I gathered from multiple sources. Please review and add something/disagree with somehting:

Light

Plant your European Fan Palm in an area that receives full-partial sun (4-6 hours of direct sunlight per day).

European fan palm grows in partial sun and partial shade. While it may grow slower in the shade, the fronds will grow slightly larger than when it is grown with more sunlight.

They can thrive in full sun to full shade, with fronds growing a bit larger in shadier areas.

The European Fan Palm grows best in full sun.

Light: Requirements at least 4 hrs of direct sun a day. Offer the pot a quarter-turn every week to expose each side to sunshine.

Water

Water your Palm 2-3 times per week for the first month, then once a week for the remainder of the first year after planting. Keep the soil moist but well-drained, watering more in times of drought and less when there is rainfall.

As an added bonus these plants are highly drought tolerant once established.

It grows best in moist but well-drained soil.

Keep frequently wet in springtime as well as summer season. In fall and winter, allow top 2 in (5 cm) of soil to dry out in between waterings. When watering, avoid making the base of the palm damp to avoid rot. Make use of a container with drainage holes, and also fast-draining potting mix to avoid soggy soil.

Temperature

Established European fan palms can survive temperatures to 10 degrees or even lower. the foliage may be damaged, but the trunk survives and re-leafs.

70-80 ° F/21 -27 ° C days; 50-60 ° F/10 -16 ° C nights

Humidity

Avoid placing this palm in a moist area...it likes to dry out between waterings, and heavy rainfall should drain quickly from the European fan's location in the landscape.

Average room humidity (around 40% relative humidity). If air is dry in winter, use a cool-mist space humidifier.

Planting

When choosing a planting location keep in mind that sharp teeth line the stem of each frond, so you may want to choose an area where pets and people won’t come into contact them.

---

My main question now is sun. Will it like southern side both indoors and outdoors?

This one I got from Home Depot today, 14" (7G?) pot. Should I split it into 3?

Please don't split it.

10°F is a minimum temperature in the ground. Probably May 1st through October 30th you're safe leaving it outside. Start it with 3 to 4 weeks of morning sun until 1 PM. Then add an hour of sun each week until it's outside all day.

Looks good,  if you divide it it will perish.

Good luck 🌴🌴🌴
