Smart technique of using the Royal’s own sheath as a wrap. I have not seen this novel approach before.

I’ve seen that done a lot on royals around here. I personally don’t like the look and it really seems to defeat the purpose of planting a self cleaning palm because now you have to hire someone to clean them up periodically. But, I do understand the safety aspect and the ones I’ve seen this done to are indeed parking lot plantings.

I wont do that to mine, ugly and somebody will need to move the bands.  But mine are not looming over cars.  I placed mine so I don't need to worry but if I had moved into a place with them over the drive I would choose to protect my cars and that solution looks like it should last for a couple years before you need to climb up there and reset the cable.

Like the Bentley parked under a coconut in another thread. We have to make palms idiot-proof.

I agree that it does not do much to help the appearance of the palm. I guess this must be a practical solution for a parking area that likely has suffered loss resulting from the falling sheaves.

I like to see that green Royal crownshaft and as Little Tex said “funky queen on steroids”!
