For some, Florida drought is getting very "extreme"

It’s painfully dry down here.  Desert conditions and a ways to go before there is any hope.

The forecast is calling for some small rain chances.  Otherwise, the cool spring turned the corner to warm yesterday.

Received 0.25in of much appreciated rain today.  It was starting to get to the point where digging while it was windy created a dust storm.

.09 for me, just as expected for April, mostly dry fronts as the heat builds in before the fronts stop and the precip water values go up for rainy season. Fertilizer and extra water this weekend so it doesnt wash away with heavy rains later in the sandy soil.

We ended up with 1.95 inches, spread nicely over the course of the day.   Badly needed.

Even here in an area shaded gold, the grass is a little crunchy if it's in full sun and there is a burn ban in effect.  The humidity has been in the 30%+/5% here the last few days.  I'm sure the semi-arid plants are loving it.

Dry season- November-May. Wet season- June-October. We got a tropical deluge recently but it has been dry. We also have had some cool weather, which is appreciated as we approach June.

What you look for is what is looking

Burn band in effect here now again this year.  I hope they are right about rainy season being decent this year and good rains spread out over time.  A normal year would be nice.

It’s crazy dry out.  Dry patches in the lawn only improve for 1 day when hand watered, before turning shriveled and grey again.  Dry sand all the way down.   Won’t be long til they are dead and brown.

Clouds are starting to get that wet-season look though.  Low and fluffy.  Hopefully the rains will come soon.

The rainfall part of the drought has been one thing, but the day-after-day temperatures in the mid-90s with humidity bottoming off around 20% and wind blowing perpetually has desiccated a lot of foliage.  You could literally water all day - if it was not against code.

Yeah the only saving grace is that the night time temps are cool-ish.
